What are Liff water filter cartridges?
Liff water filter cartridges are disposable items that fit inside Liff housings. These cartridges are used to filter out undesirable elements from drinking water.
Primary purpose
No single cartridge is capable of removing every undesirable element from water. The type of cartridge used is dependent on local conditions. Liff, therefore, produce a range of cartridges capable of removing selected elements such as limescale, bad taste, pesticides, particulate matter etc from household drinking water. The cartridge selector chart below is designed to help you identify an appropriate cartridge and housing.
Installation notes
The choice of cartridge is dependent on the quality of incoming water and the amount of water to be treated. Once fitted, a cartridge will restrict the flow of water and can create a significant drop off in pressure. Where the flow restriction and pressure drop through a cartridge is likely to be low, then it can be fitted on the mains supply to the whole house. Where flow rates and pressure drops through a cartridge are likely to be high, then it needs to be fitted at the point of use or on the feed to a touch control tap designed to deal with lower flow rates.
Maintenance
Cartridges should be replaced every 3 to 6 months (unless otherwise stated) dependent on the quality of the incoming water and the amount of water used.
